Read, Comprehend, Interpret, Apply

Together we will dig into the Word of God in a systematic way, discovering who He is and what that means for me.

“Study this book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed and in all you do.”
Joshua 1:8

What to Expect

Personal Study

You will need to be willing to do some personal study prior to meeting, to prepare you to participate in our discussion. Our goal is to learn together how to study God’s Word in a meaningful way. The only way is to dig in yourself! You will have a study guide to help with this.

Discussion

A leader will facilitate discussion questions. This is a time of active engagement and participation from everyone. Do not be afraid to jump in and ask the hard questions. Together we want to unpack God’s Word so that we can get to know who God is and what the implications for our faith walk is.

Prayer

Prayer is a cornerstone of our faith walk. Start to cover your life in prayer – as you study God’s Word, as you serve and love your family and others, as you engage in discussion when we meet. Every week we  will make time to pray together.

Teaching

Every week there will be a teaching or exhortation on the current topic of study. This will be presented by one of our Women’s Ministry leaders, or sometimes one of our Pastors. In some cases we will use the teaching DVD from the writer of the curriculum itself.

Women in the Word | Fall + Winter 2023-2024 Session

Session #1: 7 November - 5 December 2023 (1 John 1-3) @ 7PM
Session #2: 9 January - 6 February 2024 (1 John 4 -5, 2 John & 3 John) @ 7PM

Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. -1 John 2:24

How can we hold onto assurance of our faith? How can we discern the truth from a lie? How can we know God loves us? In these three short letters, the apostle John reminds an early church facing division, deception, and doubt to hold fast to what they know and to live like they believe it. And he reminds us, as well. In this 10-session Bible study on the letters of 1, 2, and 3, John, Jen Wilkin helps you see how two thousand years later, his words call to Christians in similar challenges to recall a great salvation and to abide in the truth.
